Run to the Beat 2013 · 8 September 2013 ·

We believe in families, not orphanages. We’re helping Uganda reimagine care so that no child anywhere need ever experience an orphanage again. We help repurpose orphanages into services that people really need, keeping families together, reuniting families or finding new ‘forever families’.

Story

Despite my 70 year old dad having just run his 10th half marathon, I have never run further than 10k. And that was 10 years ago. So this is likely to be pretty difficult.

What's worse, I've chosen to do it at Run to the Beat, where they have stages of rap singers doing young people's music throughout the route. And it's on my birthday. At the weekend. So your support is personally appreciated.

I chose to run for Child's i Foundation because I know Lucy and Teri do amazing work on a tiny budget to find families for abandoned babies in Uganda. I've volunteered on some of their digital work in the past, so it's good to get away from the computer to help them too. They'll spend your donation helping to run the transitional care home in Malaika, on things like baby food to help the children regain strength, and to pay the staff who look after them as if they were their own during their time there. See their great work in this video.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to Child's i Foundation. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
