Story

Thanks for taking the time to help someone with Parkinson’s today. You can also donate by texting WICK51 £5 to 70070.

THIS OCTOBER, I will be climbing Kilimanjaro to raise money for Parkinson's UK.

Parkinson's is not a natural aging process. Most people are diagnosed around the age of 60, but it can be diagnosed as young as 20 - It affects around 1 in 300 people at any given time, some 7 million people globally.

In October, I will be climbing Kilimanjaro, the world's highest freestanding mountain at 5,896m above sea level to raise as much money as I can for Parkinson's UK.

It'll be a week of trekking, including mastering the Barranco wall and praying not to be too badly hit with altitude sickness in return for your kind donations towards researching a cure for the second most common neurodegenerative disorder worldwide.

Having seen first hand some of the important research Parkinson's UK fund and met some of the amazing people this charity helps support, I believe this truly truly truly is a worthwhile cause.

But you don’t need to have a personal connection to someone with Parkinson’s to know that it deserves your funding for research and support! J

This will be no walk in the park – it will be a challenging trek both mentally and physically, beginning with temperatures around 30C at the base and reaching as low as minus 20 degress celcius towards the final summit! I have to buy a special 5 season sleeping bag and everything, just to survive it! For someone who doesn't like the cold, I'm beginning to worry just a little... but the deal is (hopefully) it inspires you to sponsor me and help me raise these crucial funds!

I am extremely grateful for any donations.

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.
