#Cancer2Ironman: Raising Money for King's College Hospital in 2014

2014, the year of the the horse. · 1 January 2014
In December 2013 I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Thanks to the speedy and effective reaction from King's College Hospital and Guy's Hospital in London I was all better by the end of January 2014. To celebrate my continued health and to say thank you for the work the hospitals did I have spent the year taking on a number of gruelling challenges...
This started with a 10km race in Richmond Park a week after finishing chemotherapy and continued with the Bungay Black Dog Marathon in Suffolk a couple of months later, posting a PB of 3hrs 16m and placing 16th. In June I cycled from London to Brighton, via Ditching Beacon, on my fixed gear track bike and in July London to Cornwall in 48 hours, on my triathlon bike, swimming, upon arrival, from Pendennis to St Mawes Castle. In August I competed in a Olympic Distance Triathlon in France, getting a repectable time of 2hrs 27m and in September I rode (on my fixed gear track bike again) from London to Paris in 24 hours. At the end of November I competed in Ironman Cozumel, an ultra distance triathlon in Mexico (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle and 26.2 mile run) - this was the final goal for my year of challenges and I completed it in a pretty decent time of 11 hours 48 minutes.
I don't think I'll be completing any more challenges before the year is out, but I would love to push my fundraising total over £2000...!!
