Polar Race 2007 · 25 May 2006

Wessex Cancer Support provides free and local emotional support to anyone affected by cancer in Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight. Clients may have cancer themselves, be adjusting to life after cancer, supporting someone with cancer or be bereaved. We rely on donations to provide this support.

Story

In April 2007 I will be competing in the Polar Race, a race to the magnetic North Pole. The race will take me from Resolute Bay in Northern Canada to the Pole some 400 miles away across the most desolate terraine in the world.

I will be pulling a sledge of up to 70k, competing against other teams around the world as well as having to endure temperatures of -40 degrees C plus the threat of Polar Bears. The race is expected to take approximately 3 weeks to compete.

I want to make the most of this once in a lifetime opportunity and at the same time support a charity that helps many people affected by something that will probably touch us all at some time in our lives.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Wessex Cancer Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
