Thank you for visiting my fundraising page
I've done it! Saturday was a fairly warm day with a few moments of sunshine, and I joined over 270 other swimmers on the shore of Windermere. You couldn't see the island from the start point, but after diverting around some rocks and passing the turning bouy for the 1.5k swimmers it came into view - a long way ahead! The thought of a warming mug of hot chocolate was already appealling so I swam on. Ignoring the superfast front crawl swimmers, I plodded on at my own pace and eventually stopped in the shallows for a 1 minute rest and cocoa fuel-up.
The way back seemed to go quicker as I chatted to fellow swimmers and was cheered on by supporters on the bank, til eventually the end point came into view. I staggered - not very gracefully - out of the water to cheers, claps, a dry towel and the very welcome site of Sam with a big hug and a proud smile.
My post-swim outfit of 2 jumpers, scarf and woolly hat may have looked odd, but slowly warmed me up whilst I munched on a yorkie bar.
I'm still a little achey 2 days on, but I did enjoy the swim, and I'm really grateful to all my fantastic sponsors who've helped me raise over £400 in all.
THANKYOU ALL!
