Story
Dear all,
I'm competing in this year's London Triathlon - the full Olympic distance. My first full triathlon and for the uninitiated this involves a 1500 meter swim, 40k on the bike and 10k run to finish it off with.
I'm doing this for Help For Heroes - a charity close to me and my family. You may well have seen some of the press surrounding the treatment of our servicemen and women returning injured from Iraq and Afghanistan. One example sticks in my mind. Without a pool available to help with their rehabilitation, disabled soldiers had to use local swimming pool - and in some instances they were turned away due to 'upsetting' the public. That our service personnel should be let down so badly and met with such a shameful attitude after risking far more than most of us will ever have to risk is staggering.
This is where H4H comes in. With our help a huge difference is being made to the lives of those returning from the front line. There is a huge amount to do so please, join me in supporting these heroic men and women, risking their lives every day in and 'just doing their jobs'.
Your support will make the pain of the training (I’ve learnt to swim!!) thoroughly worthwhile.
Sincere thanks from me, H4H and the men and women you are supporting
Charlie
