So i have decided to do the half marathon in nottingham in september and to try and raise some money for first story as well. many of you will already know about First Story, and will also appreciate that if you have only ever run 3 miles, 13 is a decent distance. But if you don't know about first story, please read on, and also go to our website www.firststory.co.uk. Essentially, we are looking to make a real difference to young students in secondary schools but running year long writing workshops with them, where the workshops are led by published authors. It is still early days but in our first two years not only did exam results improve but the quality of the work that the students did was incredible and really demonstrated how important it is to give them a voice and ways of expressing themselves.
