<P style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; COLOR: purple; FONT-SIZE: 11.5pt">At the end of July I will be travelling to </SPAN><?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:country-region><st1:place><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; COLOR: purple; FONT-SIZE: 11.5pt">Brazil</SPAN></st1:place></st1:country-region><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; COLOR: purple; FONT-SIZE: 11.5pt"> as part of a team working with the children in two orphanages on the outskirts of Rio De Janiero. The children come from one of the poorest areas of the city which suffers from high unemployment, street crime and drug trafficking. Children as young as 4 are used as drugs couriers, carrying drugs between dealers and addicts. They are described locally as 'little aeroplanes'.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
<P style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; COLOR: purple; FONT-SIZE: 11.5pt">The role of the project team is to support the orphanages in a number of different ways. We will be taking out clothes, equipment and materials that are not readily available in </SPAN><st1:country-region><st1:place><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; COLOR: purple; FONT-SIZE: 11.5pt">Brazil</SPAN></st1:place></st1:country-region><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; COLOR: purple; FONT-SIZE: 11.5pt">. We will be working on the fabric of the buildings, carrying out repairs and undertaking redecorations. Also, we will be spending time with the children, playing games, doing craft work and singing and dancing with them. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
<P style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; COLOR: purple; FONT-SIZE: 11.5pt">As a member of the team I need to raise a minimum of £1,700 to fund this trip. I have been busy fundraising since the beginning of the year, doing car boot sales, washing cars and waitressing. For my ‘main event’ I will be taking part in a Triathlon with my dad on Saturday 9<SUP>th</SUP> July. As a dancer I consider myself to be reasonably fit, however swimming, cycling and running all in one afternoon will be quite a challenge for me. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
