15 members of the Technology/Litigation Team at CMS Cameron McKenna, including myself, will be running the Run to the Beat Half-Marathon on 5 October 2008. I will be running for Save the Rhino International, which works to conserve the critically endangered rhinocerous species in the wild - more information can be found at: www.savetherhino.org. In addition, the team will be running for our firm's charity of the year: The Rainbow Trust Children's Charity, which supports families when a child has a life threatening or terminal illness - more information can be found at: www.rainbowtrust.org.uk. What does support really mean: - Support is making cakes with a child propped in a high chair, because he is too weak to stand, and only has a week left to live. - Support is listening on the phone while a mother sobs her heart out, because the weather is cold, and her son has been buried without an overcoat. - Support is letting parents know that it's alright to be in bed with their child during death. That it's alright to keep the child at home if they want, that it's alright to take time to say goodbye. Both charities are close to my heart. One of my best friends from school, Mike Hearn, died in 2005 in Namibia where he had been working for many years for Save the Rhino. A good friend of mine from Law School, lost his daughter, Grace, last year, aged only 13 months having caught chicken pox and been unable to fight off the virus. I am thankful every day for the health and happiness of my 3 children, Freddie, Zoe and Charlie - pictured here. I will run for Mike and Grace. I would love for you to sponsor me for one or both of these worthy charities. If you would like to donate to Save the Rhino International, please proceed to donate on this page. If you would like to donate to The Rainbow Trust Children's Charity, in addition or instead, please visit http://www.justgiving.com/chasingrainbows. Many thanks for your support. Best Wishes Nick
