The cause
Raising money for the Terrence Higgins Trust ; a British charity that campaigns on various issues related to AIDS and HIV. In particular, the Trust aims to reduce the spread of HIV and promote good sexual health (including safe sex); to provide services on a national and local level to people with, affected by, or at risk of contracting HIV; and to campaign for greater public understanding of the impact of HIV and AIDS.
Facts
In 2004 there were 7,275 new reported cases of HIV in the UK, which was nearly double the number reported for 2000 (3,851). HIV is the fastest growing serious health condition in the UK. By December 2005 there were an estimated 65,000 people living with HIV, a third of whom were undiagnosed, HIV increasingly and disproportionately affects women around the world. Just under half of all the people living with HIV worldwide are women
