Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge 2009 · 9 January 2009

As the East Midlands’ only hospice for children and young people, we brighten the short lives of babies, children and young people who come to Rainbows. We want them to have fun and make special memories. We are also here to support their loved ones through the most difficult times of their lives.

Story

Ian, Gary, Duncan & Jon are The Chetwode Flyers.  Bold and fit (delete and change letters as appropriate) we will compete in this year's Samworth Brothers' Charity Challenge. Read about it here:

www.samworthbrothers-challenge.co.uk

A Super Tough Challenge for all 4 of us, but all in a good cause.  We aim to raise (as a bare minimum) £2,000 for Rainbows Children's Hospice in Loughborough - see details on the page - www.rainbows.co.uk

We hope you give generously.

Thank you!

UPDATE (9th June)

Well in the end the challenge became one against the elements rather than the other teams.  The events were hit by very unseasonal conditions (hail, sleet, gales) and this had a knock on effect of adding time to all events.  In the end The Chetwode Flyers came in 5th equal in the Super Tough category, although only 2 teams managed a clean sweep of all the 3 sections.  Disappointing but really nothing to be done when the weather turns against you like that (At least everyone got off the hills safely)

We are delighted by all the support that we received.  It really helped spur us on with training schedules.  We come out the other side of this fitter and happier for the experience.

The most important aspect for us is that the total raised for Rainbows is now  well over £3,500.  That is a significant donation to Rainbows Hospice and we're thrilled that we can help them.  We'll go and see the team at Rainbows and wish them well now that our challenge is over.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to support us.  I hope that you are all happy and proud that you have helped a great cause this year.  You should be!

All the best...

The Chetwode Flyers (Ian, Duncan, Jon & Gary)
