Martin Lyddon -4h 18m Lee Whitehead -4h 58m "It was a wonderful experience and we are so grateful to all persons that donated money towards the research into beating Bowel Cancer" - DI Chewter ************ Four Kent Police officers are to take part in the New York Marathon in November. The team, led by DI Chewter with DI Martin Lyddon, Inspector Lee Whitehead from Canterbury and DC Andy Grove, hope to raise as much money as possible and are eagerly seeking sponsorship. The officers are taking part in the 26-mile run to raise money for the charity Cancer Research UK and to raise awareness of bowel cancer in memory of Lesley Chewter, wife of Canterbury DI Dave Chewter. Lesley had been diagnosed with bowel cancer just eight weeks prior to her death last November. She was only 38-years-old. DI Chewter, said, "What happened to my wife was a tragedy. I want to do something positive to both raise awareness of the disease and to help fund research into how bowel cancer can be tackled in the future. We have been training hard for months and we can't wait to take part in one of the world's biggest sporting events." The team are being sponsored by CopShopUK Ltd, one of the UK's leading online suppliers of police and security equipment. CopShopUK Ltd are proud to be sponsoring this event and wish the lads the very best of luck. -www.copshopuk.com- Bowel cancer affects one in eighteen people in this country.
