THE RUMOURS ARE TRUE! (Not that rumour, the one about me running a marathon, honestly…)
On April 17th 2011 I'm going to be running the London Marathon. That's 16 stones (a touch over 100 kg) of me running 26.2 miles (a touch over 40 km) of pain for your pleasure.
But it's not just the 26 miles, it's the 300+ miles of running that I've got planned in training… think about that 400 miles… ME!?!
So, why the hell am I doing this?
It's because being self-employed, married with 2 kids and a mortgage, I find myself with a little too much time on my hands and not enough commitment… YEAH RIGHT!
I'm raising funds for Chickenshed, a magical theatre company.
Josh, my 9 year-old son, has been a member of Chickenshed's youth theatre for 2 1/2 years. But to Josh, and everyone I've met who are involved with Chickenshed, it's much more than a theatre company. It's a sanctuary, a home from home, a place where Josh can be himself and not get flack for it, a place where he is allowed to push himself to achieve things that most people wouldn't have thought possible.
To me, it's essential that Chickenshed isn't taken for granted. They need to raise north of £3million every year.
Please give generously!
PS. Chickenhead is what Josh first called it
