Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. We are completing a half marathon walk in New York to raise funds to support vulnerable children. The children’s society projects work directly with 50,000 children each year, but their research and campaigning creates positive change for thousands more. They currently work where the need is greatest:

Children at risk on the street- when home becomes unbearable, children need a place that is safe. Children in trouble with the law- lock up a child and the sentance lasts for life. Disabled children- every child needs to be heard. Young refugees- refugee children are first and foremost children. 

What your money could go towards:

£10 pays to hire a specially equipped ‘sensory room’ for an afternoon- enabling disabled children to improve their perception.

£15 pays for counselling session between a bullied child and a member of the Children’s Society specialist schools team.

£20 pays for a massage to help ease the pain of a disabled child.

£25 pays for blankets and sheets, or pans, cups and cutlery and plates for a younger refugee living alone.

£1000 would fund group work with 10 children coping with the trauma of looking after parents who abuse drugs or alcohol.

10/07/06 £126.27: We did a street collection in Preston town centre, five hours of smiling! Thanks to everyone who donated and to Ami who helped us the three to do the collecting.

16/07/06 £152.96: Mandy & Rachel held a car boot sale, we were set up and ready to go at 7am! We went home with more than we took as the other stall holders donated things for us to sell! 

21/07/06 £186.20: We did a street collection in Bolton town centre on a Friday night dressed as cow girls in bright pink hats! Thanks to everyone who donated and the police who were a reassuring presence. Thank you to Christine and Colly who gave up their evening to help us.

23/07/06 £109.65: The three of us did a car boot sale, we loaded the cars at 6.15 am in the rain! The rain cleared and we stayed until 3pm.
