The Challenge

This June, a friend and I will be running the “Chiltern Way”: a 172 mile footpath across the South-East of England.

The distance is the equivalent of seven marathons, or running from Central London to Sheffield…and we’re giving ourselves just 5 days to complete it. That works out at 34 miles of running each day.

The Route

The Chiltern Society mapped out this scenic route through the Chiltern Hills in the Year 2000 as a millennium project. It passes through the beautiful countryside of four different counties, over a great variety of terrains, but a running theme across the entire route is the hills!

We will start the run on Tuesday 21st June 2011, and finish (hopefully!) on Saturday 25th

The Fundraising

We will be enduring this gruelling route all to raise money for our chosen charities. I will be running for Youth for Christ (“YFC”).

YFC is a national Christian charity that was founded in 1946 by Billy Graham. YFC aims to take the Good News relevantly to every young person in Britain. Sport is one of the ways by which YFC connect with young people as it is not only a valuable activity in and of itself but is an easy environment in which to develop friendships and break down barriers. Steve works as the West Midlands Sports Development Officer for YFC, seeking to co-ordinate and facilitate sports ministry in the area through schools work, youth groups and churches, as well as establish sports links abroad. With the 2012 Olympics on the horizon and an increasing recognition of the power of sport and how sport can link with Christianity, it is a very exciting time to be involved!

Your donations will make a massive difference and will push me through this epic challenge, so please sponsor me now!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Youth for Christ gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thanks for your support!

Steve
