Raising funds for the Chloe Corrigan Memorial Fund which is run through Concern.
Yet again John and Barry Corrigan are tackling another feat of determination and physical strength!! After having successfully completed a 500mile cycle from Mizen Head to Malin Head only a few years ago the mad men have decided to cycle the infamous Alpe d'Huez in France. Alpe d'Huez and the 21 hairpin turns remain the most challenging and well known stage of the Tour de France. Each of the 21 turns are marked to help cyclists count-down the 9 miles, and 3,670ft of elevation difference, with an average slope of 7.9 %. What spurs them on during these events is the knowledge that they are raising massive amounts of money for the charity closest to their hearts... That and the fact that they really are crazy!!!
The Chloe Corrigan Memorial Fund was set up after John and Barry's grand-daughter and niece (respectively) died in a car accident in 2002. Although heartbroken John decided to set up a fund in Chloes memory and has so far raised nearly £20,000. This has primarly been funding education projects in the Suba District in Kenya. So far we have built a fully functional and self sufficiant school and funded 10 other shools.
Of course none of this could be done without the generosity of our friends, family and strangers on the street so again we are asking you to support this worthy cause. Anything that you can donate goes such a long way and every penny is appreciated by not only ourselves but the thousands of children you will help to get a full and worthwhile education that they otherwise would not have had the chance to get.
If you are a UK taxpayer you can ensure the tax from your generous donation can come to us and not the government so please feel free to click the GIFT AID button. Its easy, confidential and it wont cost you any extra.
Thank you in advance for any donations and if anyone happens to be in France while the men are cycling please give them a shout of support. xxxxx
