Story
WOW!!!
WHAT A DAY!!!
This day has been coming for a long time and to be honest, it came with mixed emotions.
a) because over the past 18 months I've become quite attached to this long curly mess on my head.
b) I'm sure everyone with long hair is with me on this one... 'WIND!!! URGGH!'
So, finally, at 2:30pm this afternoon, Louise expertly shaved (or should I say 'sheared'?) all of my hair off in front of all the Staff and Pupils at Emmaville Primary School.
What an experience!
A room filled with buzzing Anticipation, Tension, Excitement, Nerves & Laughter!
I'm certain all of the kids thought I was mad, and most of them probably didn't believe I was going to do it (and really, neither did I!), but their interest, support and words of encouragement were fantastic. They asked some very interesting questions and it was great to learn that one of the pupils at Emmaville will be donating her hair for the same cause in a few months time.
I have to say that I enjoyed every second of it and given half a chance I would definitely do it again!!!
So Sponsorship!
I don't have the final total in yet to share with you (so if you still want to sponsor me there is still time!).
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to sponsor me, to follow this, to share it, to help raise the profile of the Little Princess Trust. That means a lot! As soon as we get the final figure I will update you all.
We have taken lots of photos and we are also creating a video, which hopefully we will be able to put up over the weekend.
For now, I have uploaded the essential before and after shots, along with a hair length update. For those of you unaware, the minimum length of hair needed to create a wig is 7 1/2 inches. The average length we were able to cut off my head was 10 inches, which I was very pleased with :-)
As for the (dry) weight, well using my mums kitchen scales I'm estimating it is about 150g.
Thanks for your continued support!
Watch out for further updates!

At 2:30pm on Thursday the 16th of July at Emmaville Primary School Crawcrook, I will be getting my hair shaved off to be sent to 'Little Princess Trust' and made into a wig :-)
It is official!!!
Some members from Years 5 & 6 will even be coming in for a Q&A Session before observing the shearing.
Everything has been confirmed!!!
A big thanks needs to go to Emmaville for allowing me to get my hair cut there (www.emmavilleprimary.org.uk), but also to Louise from Zanders Hair Design in Newcastle for agreeing to take the afternoon off to come and shave my head for me!
I've been experimenting with different hair styles over the weekend and I will add those photos over the coming week.
In the meantime though, keep the support coming!
CHEERS! to all those people who have sponsored me so far...
and for those who are yet to... Well... you wouldn't want me to actually KEEP my hair would you???

Some of you may know that I've been growing my ridiculous and very silly hair for 16 months now.
Why? Well only because it looks SUPER COOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLL!!!!!? What? How rude! OK yes your right, no it doesn't.
The real aim is to grow it long enough so I can shave it all off and have it made into a wig.
It might as well do something useful instead of just growing on my head and get all annoyingly long and itchy!
My focus here is to help support children who are suffering from cancer and so any money I can raise in the process will go towards 'the Little Princess Trust' (the website link is at the bottom of the page).
They provide wigs FREE OF CHARGE to kids who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment and lets face it, my hair will look a lot better on them than it does on me!
If they cant get wig of free hair donation, then a wig costs around £350 which is why this is the target for my fundraising.
When I say shaved, I mean bare clippers, none of this cheating with a number 1 or 2 to make me look less like a criminal! (just ask my friend Nat!)
The final date is yet to be confirmed, but I have my 1st appointment on Saturday to (and I never ever thought Id have to say this), to get my hair trimmed and free from split-ends...
(for those of you unfamiliar with split-ends, its something to do with your hair splitting from the bottom and the wig makers cant use it. It doesn't happen with short hair, which is why I've never heard of it!)
My hair will also need to be 7 1/2 inches long (WEHAY!) so I'll have to measure it after the trim.
My hair is currently 8 1/2 inches long (WEHAY!) and so Im estimating I can undergo the operation in approximately one months time...
WHAT THIS SPACE!!!
Thanks for your help and support!
