Dear All,

The walk is now done!  All the walkers made at least 75km of walking, despite exacerbating old injuries and picking up quite a few new ones en route, and Lee and Kirsty thankfully made it to the end in 21 hours, 30 minutes.  For more details (including photographs of blisters!), please see our blog on http://chornobylcharitywalk.interscop.org.

As you know, April 2011 marks the 25th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster, and the aftermath continues to affect many lives.  Following a bright idea from Lee Roberts in the British Embassy, a group of volunteers from the British and French Embassies in Kyiv agreed to walk the 110 kilometres (about 70 miles) from central Kyiv to the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, non-stop and within 24 hours, to raise money for charity.

The team of Lee, Kirsty, Chris, Miles, Fanch, Billy and Lyuda would never have made it without the people who gave up their time to support them: Irina, Paul, Ceci, Sian, Jon L, Vincent, Nikolai, John F and many others.  Thank-you also to all those who sent messages of support before and during the walk.

All money raised on this site will be donated to BLESMA.  There is also another website to support the charity 'Children of Chornobyl' at www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/chornobylcharitywalk/ccrdf, and the ideal aim is for matching donations to both charities.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep, think about all our blisters and aching limbs, and donate now to BLESMA.

Thank-you!
