Next day off from running: 1st Jan, 2016!

Yup that's right, I'm going to be running at least 5km per day, every day of 2015.  At least that's the intention.  Caveats are the three "I"s - ice, illness and injury - but those permitting I should be out there at some point every single day for 25-30 minutes or so (or a lot more), pounding those pavements.

Why?  Well I've already done quite a bit of running in the last few years. Lots of 10ks and a half-dozen half-marathons or so.  This seemed like something similar but different - 5km in itself is not so difficult, but I had no idea if I'd really be able to do it every day, especially alongside the odd 10k and training for a couple of half-marathons.  The year is still young so I still don't know how it will go!  So far so good.

I've decided to dedicate the challenge to Alzheimer's Research as there are lots of personal reasons for doing so, first and foremost my father-in-law Les Hurst who is in residential care in County Durham with advanced Alzheimer's.  His suffering is a constant cause of heartbreak and anguish for my wife Sarah and her mum Mary.  We want to do all we can to find a cure for this cruel disease.

So please donate if you can.  Or, as I'm running every day, how about putting a coin in a jar every day and giving the lot to ARUK at the end of the year?  Or having two jars - donate the contents of one to ARUK and use the other to buy yourself something in the 2016 January sales!
