We did it!! 23hrs 27 minutes! will get lots of pictures up tomorrow. It's been a tough 2 days - Beautiful on Ben Nevis with amazing views. Hard work at times and downright grim at others - torrential rain at 3am on Snowdon made the last peak feel very very hard but we did it.  Thank you so so much for all your support and sponsorship! xxxxxx     Eek.. only a couple of days before we start! After a phenomenal start to our fundraising we've increased our target to £1500.  We're overwhelmed by peoples' generosity so far - we've obviously got to aim higher! The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours.  We're aiming for a weekend in August and intend to start at about 7am at the foot of Ben Nevis, race up and down, jump in the car, do Scafell Pike in the late afternoon and start Snowdon in the dark, in the early hours of the morning… finishing in time for a huge fry up in Llanberis!  It should take around 14 hours of walking, covering 25 miles, climbing 10,000 feet, and the rest of the time will be spent driving the necessary 450 miles in the car.  (Our wonderful friend Mat Galvin has volunteered to drive!) </div> <div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">Why Are We Raising Money? As most of you who know us will be aware, our daughter Ellie was born on 23rd October last year.  She had serious complications at birth, and bowel surgery within her first 24 hours.  The surgeons diagnosed a Meconium ileus, and told us that this was a sure sign of a condition called Cystic Fibrosis. We knew relatively little about this life-shortening disease, but what we were told prepared us for the fact that Ellie was going to need life-long treatment, medication and physiotherapy.  As well as the opportunity for the happy, family times we expected with our new daughter, over a number of years her health would severely decline, and ultimately she was unlikely to live into her 40s.   We were devastated at the thought of what Ellie would experience, the ways in which the illness would limit her life, and the impact this would have on Noah and the rest of our family. Fantastically, 2 weeks later, against the expectations of virtually all the medical staff, Ellie’s test results came back negative.  She required further surgery and several months in hospital to recover from the Meconium ileus, but with the fantastic care and support of all the Sheffield Children’s Hospital  Staff, as well as our amazing family and friends, Ellie is now a completely healthy and happy 6 month old, full of giggles and energy. It’s hard to even think back to the days of Ellie’s diagnosis.  We obviously feel incredibly lucky; the importance of the health and life of our children is unquantifiable.  We are so thankful to have avoided having our lives changed by CF.    Massive, massive thanks for supporting us on our challenge.    We've arranged that the money you’re donating will go directly to Sheffield Children’s Hospital’s specialist Cystic Fibrosis Unit, to help improve the treatment and care of children with CF in this region.    Chris and Anna xxx<a></a> This webpage <a href="http://www.cftrust.org.uk/pressoffice/dayinthelife">http://www.cftrust.org.uk/pressoffice/dayinthelife</a>  explains the treatment regime that five people with CF undergo everyday.  It’s really illustrates the impact the illness has on day to day life.   Some more information on Cystic Fibrosis and Sheffield Children’s Hospital:   -          Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is one of the UK's most common life-threatening inherited diseases. -          It affects over 9,000 people in the UK. -          Each week, five babies are born with Cystic Fibrosis. -          Each week, two young lives are lost to Cystic Fibrosis. -          Only half of those living with Cystic Fibrosis are likely to live past their late 30s.   -          Over two million people in the UK carry the faulty gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis - around 1 in 25 of the population. -          If two carriers have a child, the baby has a 1 in 4 chance of having Cystic Fibrosis. -          Cystic Fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus, resulting in chronic infections and inflammation in the lungs and difficulty digesting food. There is currently no cure for Cystic Fibrosis, and those with CF have to adhere to a daily treatment regime of physiotherapy to help clear mucus from the lungs, antibiotics and other medication to fight inflammation and infection in the lungs, and enzyme tablets with every meal to help with digesting food.  -          The Cystic Fibrosis Trust’s website has a wealth of information about the disease and its impact on the lives of young people who suffer from it.  <a href="http://www.cftrust.org.uk">http://www.cftrust.org.uk</a> Sheffield Children’s Hospital:     -          Sheffield Children's Hospital (part of Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust) is one of only four dedicated children's NHS trusts in the UK providing integrated, highly specialist health care for children and young people -          The Children's Hospital Charity supports and enhances the work of Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust and funds four key areas   o        Specialist medical equipment o        Research into the prevention and cure of childhood illness o        New facilities to extend the range of treatment provided o        Improvements to the hospital environment that will benefit patients, families and visitors   -          Projects funded by the charity have to be enhancements that are 'above & beyond' that of the standard NHS provision. </div>
