We're taking part in The Big Walk 2018, a walking challenge on Friday 22 June – a 26.2 mile marathon-distance Peak District walk starting in Lodge Moor on the edge of Sheffield, heading out to the Peak District and ending on the University campus.
We're both Big Walk veterans and Peak District enthusiasts. Should be a walk in the (National) Park.
Why are we doing this?
Glad you asked. We are raising funds towards the University’s £2 million fundraising campaign for the Sheffield Scanner - a ground-breaking MRI-PET scanner facility - the first of its kind in Yorkshire. The Sheffield Scanner will represent the next leap forward in medical and imaging research and have a crucial role for research and patients in many areas of medicine, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases such as Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, heart disease, diabetes and stroke.
We’re well over half-way to our target of £2 million – please support and help us reach our final goal!
