Story

Help me see real hope and opportunity for young people and families in Fitton Hill, by sponsoring my trek to Everest in October.

Fitton Hill is in the 1% most deprived neighbourhoods in England[1]. The Salvation Army Eden Project has been working there for eight years and has seen how these multiple factors of deprivation affect lives. We have been working with all local partners to see transformation in this community. Drugs crime and youth nuisance appear as the headline grabbers for these communities, however we have discovered the heart of the problem is a lack of hope; a community who see and have been told they have no future and so have given up on their future. The Salvation Army Eden Project’s motto is Faith, Hope, Future.

I am asking people to sponsor me and donate to this fantastic project.

In October i will be walking to the Everest base camp, I will be flying into the world most dangerous airport and treking 6 days thorugh tough Himalayan mountains, to reach the Base Camp of Everest the highest mountain in the world.

Over the last eight year Eden has been involved with local youth work, family intervention, joined with other regeneration partners and tried to be a useful part of this regeneration. From 2003 to 2008 total crime rates have dropped by 44%[2], agencies have invested in housing, infrastructure and community capacity, which has brought huge improvements to the area, but hope is still low and aspirations are limited. Please help us bring invest hope to this community.
