Whether supporting primary health care, promoting sustainable agriculture or developing savings and loan schemes, its programmes promote positive and lasting change and reduce long-term dependency. CARE also provides emergency food and shelter to survivors of natural disasters, wars and conflicts.

My personal message:

I've recently completed the Care Egypt / BG Energy Challenge - a hiking and team building event set in the rugged terrain of the Red Sea Hills (http://bg-energychallenge.com/egypt/index.html).

This is the third year I have participated in the event, and I'm really happy to be raising money once again for this extremely worthwhile charity.  Since 2004 the BG Energy Challenge has raised over $460,000 for Care Egypt to support:

  • Small income generating activities in safe agriculture for women
  • Projects aimed at improving local governance
  • Increasing income and jobs for 13,000 rural families
  • Freedom from violence projects for Egyptian women
  • Awareness against AIDS projects
  • Basic education for young girls
  • Water and sanitation projects for rural communities

Five teams from BP completed the event, and the good news is that BP will match your donation - so please be generous!  There is still time to contribute!
