Oh god, what have I done?
I appear to have signed up for a monster bike ride on 13 September. It's around the Kent countryside, and it's 140km long (yes, you read that correctly -140km. That's 87 miles - like London to Brighton and then just over half the way back again). You can see a bit more about it here

This would be a pretty big undertaking even if I was all fit and healthy; however, most of you will probably be aware that I'm not exactly in peak physical condition (to put it mildly). As such I'm now having to train like a lunatic so that I can stand even the vaguest chance of surviving this thing.
Now admittedly, it would probably be a good idea to do this ride just for the benefit to my health and waistline, but the real reason I'm doing it is (surprise surprise) to raise a bit of money for an extremely worthy cause.
I work with a lovely chap whose wife has very recently been diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer. They're both in their early 30s, with two young children, and their world pretty much fell apart when the diagnosis came through. Macmillan Cancer Support have been there for both of them, to help them through this inconceivably difficult time. He wants to say thank you, and I (along with several other work colleagues) want to help him.
I know you've probably had dozens of sponsorship requests already for various events, and they're all as worthy as each other, but if you can spare anything at all, I'd really appreciate it.
Just think of it - Chris on a bike. Jesus.
