Tommy's funds medical research into the causes of premature birth, stillbirth and miscarriage. We’re dedicated to finding causes and treatments to save babies’ lives as well as providing trusted pregnancy and baby loss information and support.

Story

In September 2006 my niece, Harriet, was stillborn.  She died during a very normal birth due to medical negligence.  As you can imagine this has been a  deeply traumatic time for the whole family, especially my sister Sarah and brother-in-law, Chris.

The devastation of losing a baby is enormous.  I want to prevent as many babies as possible from dying in the future and I also want to prevent families from having to deal with such a traumatic loss.

Therefore, I am running the 2008 London Marathon (dodgy knee and all !) and have chosen to raise money for the charity Tommys, which exists to save babies' lives through funding research into and providing information on the causes and prevention of miscarriage, premature birth and stillbirth.  Over 2000 babies are stillborn every year and by 2030 Tommys want to halve the number of babies who die during pregnancy or birth.
