Swindon Half Marathon · 10 October 2010

We support The Rifles & its antecedent regiments, including via The Rifles Benevolent Trust, charity No: 1119071, which incorporates Care for Casualties & the Always a Rifleman Programme. Together the Trusts support all serving Riflemen & veterans, with the AARP meeting mental health needs.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Since February 2007 Rifles battalions have been deployed almost continually on operations, the intensity and ferocity of which has cost the lives of 53 Riflemen Killed in Action with a further 290 seriously injured. Of these, in excess of 40 have sustained life changing physical injuries which will require long term assistance. In addition, it is anticipated that many veterans will suffer from psychological problems at some stage in the future. The Rifles Charities must therefore significantly increase the amount of financial benevolence at its disposal to meet future needs.

In October 2010, I will be running, walking and if necessary crawling around the 13.1 miles of the Swindon Half Marathon to support this worthy cause.  I am not a natural runner to say the least, so this is going to be a major challenge for me!  However, to motivate, i have the knowledge of the friends who will benefit from my suffering, so please help me make it especially worthwhile :)
