Chris and Georgie Haywood invite you to join with them in supporting Hope International's water projects in the Derashe Region of Southern Ethiopia. Hope International work in partnership with local communities to fund the development, installation and maintenance of permanent and clean water supplies in the region. The area has once again been struck by drought and famine this year, leaving the local people on the brink. To find out more about the work please visit Hope International's Website: www.hope-international.org.uk We have committed ourselves to raising £6000 in 2008 towards the projects and will join a trip to the region in November this year to see the work for ourselves. The trip is totally self funded - none of the giving goes towards the travel expenses. We know you will be amused to hear that Chris is in training to participate in the Great Ethiopia Run (10K) whilst we are there - Africa's largest participation sporting event. Georgie will walk the course whilst Chris battles with altitude, heat and fit Ethiopians in attempting his first competitive 10K run - a guaranteed way to get his arse whopped as one of his colleagues observed. Treat this fundraising incentive as a kind of sporting wager if you wish. He would like to complete the distance inside 90 minutes. With the help of our walking friends Kirsty and Grant we have already raised £932.33 towards the target undertaking the 40 Mile Keswick to Barrow Walk. Chris completed the 40 miles in under 14 hours and Georgie achieved her own personal target walking a marathon 26 miles. We have committed a further £1335.70 ourselves and our Church has contributed £500. We would like your help to raise the rest. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: HOPE International Development Agency gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please join with us supporting Hope International's valuable work!
