Story
I'm running the 2014 Brighton Marathon to raise money for Alzheimer's Society.
My mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's two years ago, which completely changed things for my family almost overnight, and has been really hard to come to terms with.
What was once second nature for her has become a struggle, and as a hard-working, organised and active person, she understandably finds what is happening extremely difficult to take.
My mum's early-onset Alzheimer's is one of the rarer forms, and affects people under 65, at which age most would probably assume they are highly unlikely to be struck by dementia.
It is thanks to brilliant charities such as Alzheimer's Society that dementia is being taken far more seriously, and carers, families and individuals are getting the help and support they need.
