Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
In October 1929 a car similar to that pictured here took part in a Time Trial at the world famous racing circuit at Brooklands, Surrey, U.K. The event ran for exactly one hour and the 1929 Morris Minor covered a distance of 59.69 miles in that time. Hardly remarkable today but amazing back then. The manufacturer only claimed an optimistic 55mph as the cars top speed in their advertisements at that time. These recently re-discovered facts have led to much scepticism amongst todays enthusiasts, particularly of the car's ability to achieve such a feat. I have a little more faith and so thanks to the generosity of Rockingham Motor Speedway I will attempt to match the distance covered eighty years previously. The attempt will take place on 4th October 2009 on the International Oval Circuit at Rockingham.
All monies raised by this attempt will go to the CLIC Sargent charity, an organisation that helps child cancer victims and their families through the period of the illness, treatment and convalescence. A donation of any size is gratefully received and many thanks for taking the time and trouble to read this through to the end.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: CLIC Sargent gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
