St Eval parish church is adopted by the CCMAA as its spiritual home. The surrounding airfield was built to provide an operating base for Coastal Command units and to this day the church has continued to give spiritual inspiration and comfort to serving RAF personnel. Monies raised will help repair the pinnacles to enable the church to remain safe to use.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and help keep St Eval Church safe and open so that is can continue to act as the centre of worship focus for the parish of St Eval and the spiritual home for the many Royal Air Force associations who consider the church as thier spiritual home.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ST Eval Parochial Church Council will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

I have a long association with St Eval Church through my service with the Royal Air Force and as a parisioner. As you can see from the photo, the pinnacles form a prominent feature of our church and add much to its external character. However, they are very exposed and the Atlantic storms have over the years taken their toll. About 10 years ago we started to monitor their condition, realising that at some stage they would need remedial work. With this in mind, we have been setting aside funds and this year we sought professional advice on their condition. The structural engineers reported that all 4 pinnacles are in need of being taken down and rebuilt around a stainless steel support rod. Indeed, 3 of the pinnacles have started to tilt and their repair needs to be completed as a matter of some urgency. We have since received, through the tender process, an estimate for the cost for the work at £50,000.

The St Eval Parochial Church Council has already raised a significant proportion of the anticipated cost through its Fabric Fund but in order to allow the work to proceed in June 2008 we are hoping to raise the balance through our Pinnacles Appeal.

So please donate now!

Many thanks for your support.
