In February this year I was diagnosed with a blood cancer of the immune system called Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. 

One in two of us will get cancer at some point in our lives, and being a Firefighter means I am twice as likely to get it as the rest of the population due to the continued exposure to hazardous chemicals. So it shouldn’t be much of a surprise. 

My cancer isn’t curable, so I’m running this years Great North Run to raise money for Cancer Research UK, in the hope that one day they will develop a cure.
