Big Thank You to all our Sponsors We set out on 24th May 2008 to conquer Mount Snowdon and raise £3,560 in the process. All of this with Moray Cook who joined us in his wheelchair as we walked, climbed, pushed, pulled and wheeled to the summit and back down again, covering about 8 miles of mixed terrain, competing against 16 other teams to get to the top first and raising money for The Back-Up Trust into the bargain! So where is the evidence? picasaweb.google.co.uk/ChrisRauchsfdc/SnowdonPush2008SalesforceTeam
How did it go?
We all made it up and down in one piece albeit with a few aches and pains
We took an impressive 8 hours 57 minutes and finished in 17th Place proudly breaking the record for the longest recorded time for the event and becoming the first team ever in the history of the event to take longer to descend than to ascend.
We were overtaken by a team that included Superman, Superwoman, Spiderman, Batman and Robin
We enjoyed Peter McManus’ vocal rendition of “The hills are alive th the Sound of Music” with leaping dances moves included
We got sun burned in the blazing sun but nearly blown off the mountain by the wind
One the team summed up the whole experience:
“It was a fantastic event. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed it – the chance to raise money for a brilliant cause, to get fit and at the same time enjoy the amazing scenery and great company and to also be truly inspired by someone like Moray – all in one weekend. I was blown away by it, almost literally in my tent”
How hard did we work?
Very! .. and we didn’t even think about taking the train!! What are Back-Up going to do with your money?
Your amazing generosity means, for example, that Back-Up could pay for 220 spinally injured people to attend a Wheelchair Skills training session run by the Back-Up Trust where the trainers are also spinally injured and are much more able to relate to the person learning to use their chair than a able bodied trainer.
The event as a whole has raised almost £50,000 and this will make a huge difference to many people lives who have been impacted by spinal cord injury.
Thank you again for your support
