Story
When Olly was born he immediately ran into difficulties and started to have seizures due to the fact that his brain was starved of oxygen during his birth, Olly was transferred to a neonatal intensive care unit at Southampton hospital , he was heavily sedated and put on life support.
At just 5 days old Olly had an MRI scan which showed severe brain damage .We were told the worst news , Olly was unlikely to survive the next 48 hours .
However Olly had other ideas and decided to show everyone he is a fighter.
Although his 1 year has been remarkably hard and physically exhausting ,you would never know it if you saw him as he’s nearly always sporting a massive smile and just seems to be happy to be here.
Ollys been diagnosed with cerabal palsy and finds moving his limbs hard work and frustrating .
We have recently had our first assessment at the Brainwave centre , we found this really helpful and learnt how we can help Olly .
By following a daily physio programme we hope Olly will be able to reach his full potential ,however we will need to continue to have regular assessments and plan to return in April .
I will be running the 2013 London Marathon, and will be raising money for the Brainwave centre , 20% of all donations will go towards Ollys ongoing therapy .
