Story

As you may or may not be aware I am running the London marathon in April 2012 for my beautiful daughter Hannah who has Rett Syndrome.

There is a strong possibility that you have no idea what Rett Syndrome is. To give you a brief insight, Rett Syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that affects an estimated 1 in 20,000 girls.

There are substantial communication and mobility issues, most will never speak and by adulthood, only 50% will walk. Epilepsy, chronic spinal curvature, breathing and feeding difficulties are also common features. Although present at birth, it is usually undetected until one year of age. In Hannah's case she was two before we noticed any signs. She doesn't talk and will probably never walk. Luckily for us, Hannah's outlook is good.

Hannah is my world, she makes me smile every day and is perfect in everyway. I can't think of anything better than running, walking or crawling the 26.2 miles of hell the London Marathon will chuck at me to raise awareness for this disorder. If the money I raise goes to helping children like Hannah then it will be worth it.

Now for those of you that know me this is not going to be an easy challenge. I have never even walked 26.2 miles and driving it would make me sweat. I have never run a marathon, most people call me fat, I love MacDonalds and beer is my best friend so I am going to put myself through hell.

I promise all of you that if you dig deep and sponsor me, Hannah and Rett Syndrome I will complete the London Marathon and make all of you very proud!!

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Now let the training commence!!
