So, why am I doing this?  Why am I running 5km? why am I going through an obstacle course when I have no upper body strength?  Why am I spending 24hrs as part of a team not stopping moving? What's my story?

It's not just my story though.  Bronwyn and Emrys have given their own money to take part in the 5km.

Everywhere you turn, cancer is destroying lives.  In my own little bubble of a world, there is a brand new baby who cannot meet her Grandfather, there is a woman who lives each breath waiting to hold her daughter again, there is a woman who spent her birthday in hospital, there are children without their mother, there is a man whose life was turned upside down (not Will Smith...), there is a boy who is running because he lost his Beaver's leader, running because he has seen his friend's life transform since diagnosis...

So many more besides, fathers, children, mothers, grandparents... all gone because of this hell.

BUT there are those who are still here, and they are here because of this life saving research.  Without this research we wouldn't be suffering from the side effects of Adam's symptoms, we would be dealing with everything that follows chemo, or far far worse.  Without this research I have friends that would be widows, and who would have lost their children.  Without this research my friend wouldn't have been about to celebrate her birthday, even one in hospital.

The girl who started all this for me... the one that made me go from having lost people to cancer to pure rage and determination to stop it... Aillidh.

Every year my list gets longer.  Every year I have to add new names.  I'm sick of this pain that so many have to go through.  No more names.
