ING New York Marathon 2008 · 2 November 2008 ·

The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Your support can help us to fund life-changing and potentially life-saving projects that will benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.

Story

As the Chief Executive and research nurses of The Christie we took part in the New York Marathon on the 2nd November. We all completed the marathon in the following times:

- Caroline Shaw ran in 4 hours and 11 minutes

- Caroline Hamer bravely ran in 5 hours and 7 minutes despite injuring her leg and being advised by medical staff to stop

- Claire O'Rourke ran in 3 hours and 59 minutes

To celebrate our return, New York is coming to Manchester for the night on Friday 14th November. To join us at the Renaissance hotel, Manchester, for a glamorous Manhattan style event please contact Stephen Anderson on 0161 918 7354. Tickets cost £80.

Half the money we raise will go towards two major new developments at The Christie, and the other half will go to the Willow Foundation, a charity that provides special days for seriously ill 16 to 40 year olds. Between us we are aiming to raise £26,000 - that's £1,000 for every mile we completed.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Christie's gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. The Willow Foundation (reg charity no 1106746) will receive 50% of all donations received.

So please sponsor us now!
