I'm planning to do the Neolithic Marathon on the 4th May, which runs from Avebury to Stonehenge with, as it turns out, two week's planning and many weekends spent doing anything other than running.
Apparently the 26 mile route goes through army land in remote countryside, which is not normally accessible to the public. At about 22 miles you start to see Stonehenge, which (again apparently) helps propel you to the finish line. I'll be depending upon this for motivation! I was told at work today that its the toughest offroad marathon in the country, I'm sure that can't be right as Wiltshire is pretty flat compared to Scotland, isn't it ... ?
