My story

 

Hello there and thanks for visiting my site and donating.

Well here’s the deal, by Aug 2008 I need to have raise about £4000, then I’ll be off to Mozambique for one whole year.

I would like to thank people in west wales who have in tottal send out £1000 to the cause in cheques. Another £900 has been donated form local Businesses, in St Davids pembrokeshire.

Since I was a child, It has been an aspiration of mine to volunteer in Africa making a small, important difference to the lives of others. Mozambique is renowned for its beauty, and the warmth of its people. While resolving many of the social problems that are left after independence from a Portuguese colonial history just over 30 years ago. Mozambique alongside many other African countries has a long suffering history with Aids. Approximately 1.6 million Mozambicans are living with HIV or AIDS, sadly more than 90,000 of them are children under 15 years of age.

My role within the project will be “working with street children”, this will vary from supporting the administrative and teaching staff in a day care centre; organising daily activities, counselling children; taking care of babies, and much more.

With support from ICYE-UK I can make this program possible. I selected ICYE-UK from many international volunteering organisation. Established in 1949, they have been sending volunteers all over the world, ICYE-UK differ form other organisations as they will only work with  other registered charitable projects in each country, meaning that each volunteer is sent where they are needed.

I have been given this once in a lifetime opportunity, but I need your support. I need to fundraise £4000 for this to become reality. Thank you for taking time to read this, and donating, however big or small – IT ALL HELPS.

While I am away I will be sending information, images and updates to you via e-mail, all of which you may use in any personal or professional publication.

£4000 is a lot of money but every penny helps, so whatever you can give would be amazing.
