Alzheimer's Society - Trek the Great Wall of China · 2 May 2009 to 11 May 2009 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I have decided to take up the challenge to trek a 100km stretch of the Great Wall of China to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society so that more support can be provided for carers as well as allowing the Society to continue its search for a cure.

My husband was diagnosed with mixed dementia (vascular/alzheimers) in October 2006 and is now one of the 15,000 younger people that have been diagnosed.  There are numerous issues for younger people; lack of resources, dependants (we have a 18yr old daughter still at home) and difficulty finding suitable care.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

I really hope you can support me in this challenge so please please sponsor me now!  Please note I am funding the cost of the travel so all your donations go to the charity.  Thanking you in advance.
