Story
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
We've done it!!! From 11th to the 13th June 2009, we four oldies [there we are in the photo- 2 couldn't make it] rode the C2C route from Whitehaven Slipway to Tynemouth Beach to raise money for the Freeman Hospital's Heart and Lung Transplant Unit.
We did it on behalf of a friend's grandson who is two and a half. He contracted Leukaemia last summer. During his treatment his heart failed on Christmas Eve 2008 and he went into the Freeman ICU to start the long and worrying wait for a heart transplant through the Freeman Hospital Heart and Lung Transplant Unit. Just a couple of months ago he was given a new heart and is getting stronger every day. We have all our fingers and toes crossed that he will make a full and complete recovery.
Coincidentally we know some of the transplant co-ordination team at the Freeman Heart and Lung Transplant Unit- they are fully committed to the work they do- without them many people would not be alive today. Anything we can do to help fund the essential work they do will be fantastic. Thank you for anything you can give.
