Story
Thank you for visiting my fund-raising page.
I am Chairman of a charity called Bottletop which funds small programmes here and overseas engaged in the campaign to promote sexual health and fight HIV/AIDS. Bottletop was founded by a former student of mine, Cameron Saul, who spent a year in Uganda with SPW, a charity working in broadly the same field with which I was associated for some 20 years. Cameron and I plan to do a skydive together on the 29th September. He is about a third of my age but we plan to land at about the same time!
Among the welter of statistics with which you will be pretty familiar already, one leaps out at me, and it’s this; worldwide over 80% of young men and women aged 15 - 24 don't know how HIV is transmitted. This means that unsafe sex is now the second biggest risk factor leading to disability or death in the poorest communities. There is much work to be done….
However, through Bottletop we have incredible programs that we support in Malawi, Rwanda, Brazil and here in the UK. We tackle this issue in a way which resonates with young people and we help them gain the skills they need to avoid other STD's and unplanned pregnancies, and to get on with their lives just like the rest of us.
You may like to check out www.bottletop.org for more information.
Please will you support us in any way you can.
(Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Bottletop gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.)
Many thanks indeed.
Christopher
