Story
London Marathon today in 3:05:38, a little slower than last year, but well pleased given I missed 4 weeks training due to injury!
On the 26th April 2009, who heard me say “Never Again”? Did I really say that? Are you sure it was me? OK, it was me! Now, 6 Months on, the pain has been forgotten, the blisters have gone away, I can walk down the stairs once more (instead of sliding down on my bum) & I have got a new pair of trainers, so what have I decided to do? Thats right, fresh on the heels of my success in the 2009 Flora London Marathon, I am donning my running shoes once more, and will run those 26.2 miles through London in the inaugural Virgin London Marathon on 25th April 2010.
So, why do it all over again? Apart from being simply "Bonkers" I mean - Well, I have two compelling reasons:
A. 3 minutes & 54 seconds. In 2009, on my first Marathon attempt, I completed London in 3:03:54. In 2010, I am determined to crack that 3 hour mark.
B. The Royal National Institute of Blind People - RNIB. I will be helping blind and partially sighted people. Every day in the UK, another 100 people will start to lose their sight. With my partner Lance being partially sighted himself, I have an insight to the trials & tribulations that a blind or partially sighted person experiences. For Lance, it has often been with the little things in everyday life where the RNIB have proved to be an invaluable resource. Please help me support their fantastic work by donating whatever you can.
The RNIB are the leading UK charity offering practical support and information to anyone with a sight problem. Their vision is of a world in which blind and partially sighted people enjoy the same rights, freedom, responsibilities and quality of life as people who are fully sighted. Their mission is to challenge blindness by empowering people who are blind or partially sighted, removing the barriers they face and helping to prevent blindness.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - So please dig deep and donate now.
