Most folk know that I fancy myself as a bit of a runner, but to be honest I've only ever been a part timer and my love of cake and lying on the sofa has always got in the way of my sporting ambition!

However, I started working for the Scottish SPCA last year and my eyes were opened to the scale of cruelty towards animals that happens every day right here in Scotland.  I've written countless stories (and shed many tears) about animals that have been beaten, starved, abandoned and left to die and it breaks my heart.

So, I've only gone and signed me and the hubby up to run a bloody marathon with all the money we raise going to help our hairy friends from the animal kingdom.
