Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I am running the London Marathon in memory of my best friend Dr Lisa Bawden who died aged 31 yrs from oesophageal cancer. I am running in aid of Cornwall Hospice Care, who cared for her during her illness.
Lisa had a sparkling personality and was a kind, thoughful person. She loved people and their company. We first met in St. Mewan Primary school and went on to become the best of friends during our time at Penrice secondary school and Cornwall College St. Austell, Cornwall. We spent much of our youth visiting Cornwall's best spots and met many friends along the way! We both wanted to become Doctors and although Lisa went to Birmingham and I to Cardiff, we spent time together either in Brum, Cardiff or back at home in Cornwall. I will always remember the great times we had together as friends. As a best friend, she was supportive and kind-hearted. Lisa was extremely dignified and elegant throughout her short and devastating illness with never a cross word to anyone. Wherever you've met either of us, if you can sponsor me I will be extremely grateful. Thank you to Lisa's parent's, the hosts of our coffee morning, and to all who ate and drank their way to a fantastic total. To be confirmed. A massive thank you to everyone's donations and fundraising efforts! Devastatingly I have had to withdraw from today's London Marathon because of a recurrence of a knee injury. I left the decision until late yesterday just in case. I would like to thank everyone for their support and I will endeavour to run in either next year's london or another marathon. Frustratingly six months hard work down the drain. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cornwall Hospice Care gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer , Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
