Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This September I am doing a charity challenge – the Mont Blanc Massif Trek – in memory of Sophie Hannon, my school friend.
I am hoping to raise £2000 for Epilepsy Research UK so that they can continue their fantastic work. This charity supports the work of scientists and clinicians throughout the UK, who are investigating all aspects of epilepsy in both adults and children. They are especially looking at what causes epilepsy, who gets it, what goes on during a seizure, and better ways to treat it.
I will be trekking for three days around some of the highest mountains in Western Europe in the Mont Blanc region, crossing the borders of France, Italy and Switzerland. The mountains I will be climbing are Grand Col Ferret (2537 m), Champex (1450 m), Fenetre d'Arpette (2665 m) and Cold del la Forclaz (1526 m)
Please take a look at the webpage for more info about the challenge, which is organised by Discover Adventure: http://www.discoveradventure.com/challenge.aspx?t=227
I have wanted to do something for Sophie for a long time but have been quite scared of doing something on my own. This year I decided to bite the bullet and just go for it. The climb itself is over three days, and although the scenery is beautiful, it isn't easy. I will be walking for around 7–8 hours a day, lots of it over steep and some dangerous paths.
I am planning on climbing Snowdon and also doing the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge as training so that I am fiddle as a fiddle and can run up the mountains!
