Do you take having the ability to walk for granted? How would you cope if suddenly you couldn't? Could you still work, play. remain in your home?
“Every year in the UK over 1,000 people experience a spinal cord injury (SCI), and most result in paralysis. The most common causes of SCI are falls, road traffic accidents and sports injuries, and the majority of people who become injured are active 16 to 30-year olds, most of whom will have just completed their education or be starting out in their careers."
Makes you think doesn't it? This year I have a place in the London Marathon and for numerous reasons have decided to support the Spinal Injuries Association. I ran London and Edinburgh Marathons last year in just under 4hrs and am hoping to improve on that this year :). Last year I ran 2 marathons in two months, to make this year more interesting I have decided to do White Peak marathon a few weeks later on the 19th May, how much that is going to hurt depends on London.
