As many of you know, my days of being a ‘Sport Billy’ (to quote James) have been over for a while.  However, after a bit of inspiration from my late friend Rachel (a triathlete) and a worthy cause which means a lot to my friend Michelle and her family I have dusted off not only my swimming costume but a pair of trainers and a bike as well!  So...on a trip back to the UK next month I am competing in the Southend Triathlon.  After starting training I slowly realised that this was not one of my best ideas; however I am persevering and am aiming to get over the finish line in one piece without needing medical assistance while raising lots of money!

As I said I am not just doing this purely for my own enjoyment but to raise money for the Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation: The Bosom Pals Appeal.  The aim of this appeal is to raise vital funds for the Breast Cancer Unit at Southend Hospital. Specifically, money raised will go towards the purchase of 2 new mammography machines in order to improve screening services which will help detect signs of cancer earlier.
