On March 7th, I'm going to be getting my trainers on (again) and running the Bath half marathon.
Yes, that's right. I appear to have forgotten the pain of training for and then running 13 miles, and need to be reminded. But it's all for a good cause.
Shelter is a great charity, working to alleviate the distress caused by homelessness and bad housing in the UK. As I write this, cozy and warm in my flat on a Sunday afternoon, snow is falling on the already-frozen streets of Bristol. Nighttime temperatures have dropped consistently below zero for several weeks, and tonight I'll be part of a Soup Run team, heading out onto the streets to give out food and hot drinks to rough sleepers in the city. As volunteers, we can do what we can to make sure people's immediate needs are met, but charities like Shelter are working hard towards longer-term solutions. You can read more about their work at www.shelter.org.uk.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please dig deep and donate now. And of course, if you'd like to come out and support me on the day that'd be great too!
Time for a spot of snowy training now I reckon...
Clare
