What an amazing day Sunday 25th was. The support was increcdible, it was such a lift to see my family and friends at so many points along the course, thank you for all your support. The fundraising and sponsorship is still coming in, again thank you and I can't wait to see the final amount.
LAM action is really important to me after my Mum was recently diagnosed and this charity has given her so much help and support in trying to understand this rare and unusual illness. To show my support I offered to raise money by doing something which I thought only crazy people did, running the London Marathon! For all of you who know me well you will know I don't like running on a hockey pitch or otherwise so for me to take this on is a huge commitment and challenge, but one I'm happy to do for a great charity.
Training started last year and after a slow start I built up from 2 miles to a half marathon (see picture above!) Then after a short break I built up again and on 21st March'10 I did a 20mile road race as my preparation race which was an experience! I have to say training really is tough and a rollercoaster of emotions and motivation and without the support of some friends being great training partners it would be even tougher so many thanks to them...
