Story
CLICENDALES is a registered charity in aid of helping in all aspects of care for children with cancer. The main event is an annual charity dance show performed by students from the University of Bristol Medical School. The year 2013 marks the show’s 20th anniversary, so it is set to be bigger and better than ever before.
All proceeds go towards helping to ease the burden of childhood cancer on children, young people and their families. The charity provides support at home and in hospital, helping survivors, and supporting those bereaved. Over the last 6 years, CLICENDALES has raised over £65,000 for this very worthwhile cause.
From the charity committee to the 150 dancers, from choreographers to make up artists, the entire production is student run. Auditions are held in November, accepting approximately 150 medical students to perform to a crowd of over 1500 people at the O2 Academy Bristol in March. There are numerous CLICENDALES fundraisers throughout the year involving hundreds of medical students, and non-medics too!
Being involved in CLICENDALES provides an excellent opportunity to raise money, meet new people, and have fun at university, whilst being able to raise money for a worthwhile cause. It is seen by many as being the "medic event of the year", bringing students together from years 1-6, forging many friendships throughout the university, whilst being able to help a fantastically worthwhile cause.
